Annual Report 2010-2011

Hanover Arc has been serving individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities/delays and their families since 1967. The Arc has grown and changed through the years to meet the changing needs of individuals with disabilities and their families. Hanover Arc is the leading advocacy, service and awarness/education organization for citizens living with developmental disabilities/delays in Hanover County.

Hanover Arc currently serves 160 individuals with or at risk of developmental disabilities through advocacy, services and supports. We provide direct services to Hanover County residents and assist many in the neighboring localities with information and referral.
Services and supports include resource navigation, adaptive equipment, respite, recreation, summer educational scholarships, emergency assistance, family support and education.

Hanover Arc advocates for the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all aspects of community living. We educate elected officials and the public about the needs of children and adults with disabilities.

Hanover Arc has been working for decades bringing about change so that people with developmental disabilities live better, more independent lives. Hanover Arc created and seeded many services in Hanover County including summer school, Parks and Recreation programs, supported employment in the high schools, the Hanover County Community Services Intellectual Disability Services and more.

Hanover Arc is managed by a volunteer board of directors. Hanover Arc receives no governmental funding and is dependent on donors, fund raising events and private grants.
